Autograph letter from the Vicereine, Lady Curzon, to H. H. the Nawab Begam of Bhopal. A personal manuscript letter written on three sides of a small bifolium of writing paper, 7 x 4½ ins, embossed in blue Government House, Calcutta beneath a Victorian crown dated Jan 29 [1902] and addressed to My dear Friend. The Vicereine, Lady Curzon [the former Mary Leitner] expresses her sorrow for the Begum’s overwhelming loss of her husband who had unexpectedly died of a heart attack. It is written in her own hand and signed Mary Curzon. The last page has local writing and marks where the letter has been tipped to an old paper album page
