A scarce first edition of Lieutenant A. C. Yate's book "England and Russia Face to Face in Asia: Travels with the Afghan Boundary Commission", published in 1887 by William Blackwood in Edinburgh. The book contains a folding map of Panjdeh 1885, frontispiece portraits, five other plates, and a large folding map in the rear pocket, "The March of the Indian Section of the Boundary Commission from Quetta to Herat and Nadkis." This copy is ex-library, with no signs of use, but withdrawn stamps from Nottingham Public Library and small stamps on the title page, margins of some plates and the Panjdeh map, and a few other margins.
