Akali Kaur Singh Nihang

Akali Kaur Singh Nihang (1886-1953) was a religious preacher and Sikh scholar. He was the son of Mahari Singh and Marukalam Kaul from the village of Padar in Chakar, Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan. Kaur Singh learned the Sikh scriptures, Sanskrit, Braj, and Ayurveda from Bava Mahari Singh. In 1904 he studied under Jani Berg Singh, a prominent scholar from Peshawar. He participated in Arya Samaj Debates. He transformed into his Nihang and renamed Hazoor Sahib and Nanded Kaur Singh. He preached the Guru's message while traveling to India and Afghanistan.

Work He worked on his Guru Granth Sahib alphabetical index in 1907 and completed it in 1920. It was published in March 1923 under the title GuruShabad Ratan Prakash/Tuk Tatkara and in 1929 also worked on an index to the works of Bhai Gurdas. He preached the guru's message in Chakar, opened a chain of schools, established a library, and published a newsletter called Ashram Samacher. His works include Sri Gur Sobha, Kavi Senapati, Gutka Pramanik Nitnem, Buddhabaridh Hitopadesh Ratnakar (Panchatantra of Gurmukhi), Sukh Sagararihat Gharaa Vaid (Ayurveda), Istri Sankat Mochan (Elevation of the Woman). increase. In 1952 he suffered a heart attack and died on January 23, 1953.
