COPIES OF ALL TREATIES

COPIES OF ALL TREATIES, ENGAGEMENTS, OR CORRESPONDENCE, BETWEEN THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT IN INDIA AND THE KING AT DELHI, OR WITH HIS MINISTERS, SUBSEQUENT TO THE CONCLUSION OF THE TREATY OF BASSEIN. The treaties that were made between the British and Indian rulers played a crucial role in shaping the history of India. These treaties were used by the British to establish their military and territorial power in South Asia. However, despite the controversies surrounding the British East India Company's diplomatic activities and violations of the principles of the law of nations, treaty-making remained a critical site for generating new imperial ideas and extending British power in India.

The scarcity of Parliamentary Papers documenting these treaties only underscores their significance. The fact that only a small number of copies were printed, and that only a handful of major libraries in Britain have a complete set of these papers, demonstrates their historical value. It is essential that we recognize the importance of these treaties and preserve them for future generations, as they provide valuable insights into the colonial history of India and its impact on the Indian subcontinent. The treaties made during this period have contributed to shaping the political, social, and cultural landscape of India, and they continue to influence the country to this day. We should be proud of our heritage and work to ensure that it is preserved for future generations to come.
