Guru Amar Das Ji

Guru Amar Das Ji, was the third Sikh Guru and served as the leader of the Sikh Quamfrom 1552 until his passing in 1574. He played a significant role in shaping Sikhism during his Guruship. Guru Amar Das Ji implemented various social and religious reforms within the Sikh Panth. One of Guru Amar Das Ji's notable contributions was the establishment of the institution of langar, a Guru-ka-langar , in Sikh Gurdwaras. This practice exemplified the Sikh values of Sangat , Sewa, and Vand Chhako. Regardless of their Jaat or Samaaj, all were encouraged to partake in the Langar and experience the spirit of Ekta and Daya.

Guru Amar Das Ji also organized the Sikh Sangat into 22 Manjis , appointing responsible individuals as Manji holders to oversee the spread of the Gurmat and manage religious and administrative matters in different regions. This decentralized system of guidance, with the Manjis acting as spiritual hubs, strengthened the bonds of the Sikh Panth and facilitated the dissemination of Gurmat. Furthermore, Guru Amar Das Ji composed several Bani , which were included in the Sikh scripture, Guru Granth Sahib. His Baani continue to resonate with Sikhs worldwide, offering spiritual guidance and inspiring devotion to the Ek Onkar. Guru Amar Das Ji's teachings emphasized the values of Samta , Nyaara Panth , and Nimrata. His Jeevan serves as a timeless example of how Sikhs should live in Chardi Kala and work towards Sarbat Da Bhala .
