Giani Hira Singh Dard (February 12, 1887 – June 22, 1965) was a Punjabi journalist and novelist who was born in the Village of Ghaghrot (district Rawalpindi). Bhai Hari Singh was his father's name. In his adolescence, he began writing religious and patriotic poetry under the pen name "Dard." He was a founding member of the Kendri Punjabi Likhari Sabha (Central Punjabi Writers Association). Hira Singh Dard was a revolutionary, and his poems reflect his rebellion against society injustices. He also participated in the Gurdwara Reform Movement and worked as an assistant editor for the Akl, Akhbar. He moved to Jalandhar after the breakup of Punjab in 1947.
