Map of the New Capital Delhi, early 20th century

Folding map titled NEW CAPITAL DELHI with two maps on a 17 x 12 ins sheet which folds down to 4½ x 5½ ins and has clearly been in a guide book of some sort but we are unsure which. One map shows the street plan with the Durbar Amphitheatre and Kingsway station top left and entitled Civil station showing roads, the other titled Showing roads around Delhi . The map appears to date from December 12, that the then-King-Emperor caught the whole nation off guard when he announced the move of India’s capital from Calcutta to Delhi., and the completion of the Lutyens buildings of the new capital.
