Place of the Battle of Moodkee

On the south bank of the Sutlej River in the Punjab in North West India. Major General Robert Henry Sale (1784-1845) was a British soldier who from 1798 served mainly in India and Afghanistan and rose to the rank of Major-General in the army of the British East India Company. In the First Sikh War he was mortally wounded at the Battle of Moodkee (Mudkhi, in the Punjab, India), and died of his wounds on 21 December.
