Puran Singh Di vartak

Puran Singh Di vartak (Published 1977) Prof Puran Singh (1881-1931) was a renowned Punjabi poet, scientist, and mystic. Born in Abbottabad, British India, he studied Industrial Chemistry in Japan and was influenced by Japanese aesthetics and Buddhist teachings. Prof Puran Singh's journey was shaped by transformative experiences, including encounters with Walt Whitman and spiritual figure Bhai Vir Singh. He ventured into distilling essential oils and later worked as a chemist in various institutions. He transformed barren land in Gwalior into a lush landscape and developed innovative methods in industries such as sugar production. Despite facing setbacks, including floods that devastated his plantation, he left a lasting impact on Punjabi literature and spirituality. Prof Puran Singh is recognized as a pioneer of modern Punjabi poetry and a multidimensional figure who combined scientific pursuits with artistic and spiritual exploration.
