This work, which measures the horizons of the Sikh movement, did a great deed of breaking the deadlock in Sikh thought and giving it direction as well. ਖਾਲਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਸਰਵੋਤਮ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜਾਚ ਨੇ ਮਾਨਵ-ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੀਂ ਸੇਧ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਹ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਇਸ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਤੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਸਤ੍ਰਿਤ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਹਜ-ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਲਾਵੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਪੜਾਵਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੇਖਕ ਨੇ ‘ਸਿੱਖ ਯਾਦ’ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਤੇ ਮਹਿਸੂਸਿਆ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ‘ਪਹਿਲ ਤਾਜ਼ਗੀ’ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਤੇ ਮੌਲਿਕ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ-ਚੇਤਨਾ ਦੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਦੇ ਅਖੰਡ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਆਭਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਪ ਵੀ ਸਰਸ਼ਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਿਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਪਾਠਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਬਹੁ-ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਅਨੁਭਵ ’ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਇਹ ਰਚਨਾ ਮਹਿਬੂਬ-ਕਵੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾਸ਼ੀਲ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ। ਸਿੱਖ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਸਹੱਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਪਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਸ ਰਚਨਾ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਜਮੂਦ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਸੇਧ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਕਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
