The 1911 Delhi Durbar with the Valiant 36th Sikhs

Step back in time as we open the pages of our recently acquired album, revealing another captivating glimpse of history - a second photograph from the 1911 Delhi Durbar. This second photograph captures the essence of a historical moment where the 36th Sikhs, resplendent in their uniforms, stand tall alongside other esteemed attendees. The Delhi Durbar of 1911 was a grand affair, lasting from 7 to 16 December, with the central event, the "Durbar and Proclamation," held on 12 December.

Amidst the distinguished attendees, we proudly highlight the valiant presence of the 36th Sikhs, a regiment of the British Indian Army renowned for their exceptional valour and bravery. Originally raised in 1887, the regiment had earned a stellar reputation, particularly for their heroic defence of the British indian post at Saragarhi in 1897 against overwhelming odds.
