Bio General Sir Peter Lumsden, G.C.B., C.S.I., A.D.C. was a British Army officer who served in the Second Anglo-Afghan War and in India. He was born in Scotland in 1829 and joined the army at a young age, rising through the ranks to become a General in 1886. He served as the commander of the 2nd Division of the British Indian Army during the Second Anglo-Afghan War, where he led a successful campaign against the Afghan forces. Later, he served as the Quartermaster General in India, where he oversaw the construction of a network of roads, railways, and telegraph lines, helping to modernize the country's infrastructure. His military career spanned several decades, and he was awarded numerous honors for his service, including the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath and the Companion of the Order of the Star of India.
