The Ludhiana District Gazetteer Of Year 1904

Consists of information about geographical, topographical features such as river systems, Geology, Fauna and Flora such as wild animals and plant species; demographic patterns such as births and deaths, socio-religious variations such as distinctions of caste, religion and language, dress, housing and food patterns; major occupations in agriculture, industry and commerce; governmental, administrative and financial management systems. In 1803, when the British had established their rule, the river Sutlej was the boundary line of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's rule and the British rule. Maharaja Ranjit Singh once also won the region of Ludhiana but soon an accord was established. Ludhiana again came under British rule and a Military Cantonment was established here.
