WELLINGTON WORKS.,ALDERSHOT 1934 The 24th Punjabis, an Indian Army Regiment, valiantly fought in the campaign in Mesopotamia during World War I. From the battle of Shaiba to the advance to Ctesiphon and the subsequent retreat to Kut-al-Amara, they displayed unwavering courage and determination. Despite enduring the disastrous siege of Kut-al-Amara and the appalling sufferings in Turkish captivity, the regiment emerged resilient. They were reformed with new personnel and went on to serve in Mesopotamia, Salonika, south Russia, and Anatolia, leaving behind a rare record of one of the Great War's worst disasters. Their indomitable spirit and sacrifices shall never be forgotten.
