While Memory Serves by Tuker Lieutenant General Sir Francis Tuker KCIE CB DSO OBE Lieutenant General Sir Francis Ivan Simms Tuker was a British Indian Army officer who served in World War I and II. He commanded the 34th and 4th Indian Divisions during the Western Desert and Italian Campaigns and received several promotions and honors, including the KCIE, CB, DSO, and OBE. Tuker is known for his books on military history, including "The Pattern of War," and his nickname in the army was "Gertie." He died in 1967 and is remembered with a memorial tablet in the chapel of Brighton College.
